Privacy Policy
PassStamp is a study app that helps engineers prepare for the NCEES PE and FE exams. We built it to be useful without being nosy. There are no accounts to create, and your study records stay on your device. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.
01Who we are
PassStamp ("the app," "we," "us," or "our") is developed and operated by Ingenio Productions. This policy applies to the PassStamp mobile application and any related pages we provide. It does not cover third-party services that have their own privacy policies, which we identify below.
02The short version
- There are no accounts and no logins. You just open the app and study.
- Your study records - answers, scores, and progress - stay on your device.
- We don't send any study data or user-generated content to the cloud.
- We use analytics and crash reporting to understand how the app is used and to fix problems.
- Purchases are processed by Apple, and managed for us by RevenueCat.
- We do not sell your personal information.
03Information we handle
Information you provide
PassStamp does not ask you to create an account or provide personal details to use it. The only time you give us information directly is if you contact us for support, in which case we receive whatever information you include in your message.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, we and our service providers automatically collect limited technical and usage information, such as:
- Usage and interaction events (for example, which screens and exams you open, and aggregate study activity);
- Device and app information (device model, operating system version, app version, and language/region settings);
- App-generated and advertising/installation identifiers used to count unique installs and measure performance;
- Diagnostic information such as crash and performance data.
Study data
Your answers, scores, and progress are generated as you study, and they stay on your device. We do not send your study data or any other user-generated content to our servers or any third party. If your device's operating system backs up app data to your personal iCloud or Google Drive account so you can restore it on another device, that backup is handled entirely by Apple or Google under your control - it is not something we operate or receive (see Device backups).
04How we use information
- To provide the app - run your study sessions, track progress, and remember your settings.
- To process purchases - unlock and restore content you've bought.
- To improve PassStamp - understand which features and exams are used, fix bugs, and prioritize new content.
- To keep the app reliable and secure - diagnose crashes and prevent abuse.
- To support you - respond to questions and requests you send us.
05Third-party services we use
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run PassStamp. They process information on our behalf and only for the purposes described here. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
You can review these providers' practices in their respective privacy policies: Apple, RevenueCat, and Google Firebase.
06App integrity & purchase validation
There are no user accounts and no logins in PassStamp. To protect against fraud and to confirm that you've purchased the content you're using, the app uses Firebase App Check together with an anonymous authentication token. This token identifies the app installation, not you - it isn't tied to a name, email, or profile, and we don't use it to track you across services. Its only purposes are to verify that requests come from a genuine, untampered copy of the app and to validate your entitlement to paid content.
07Device backups
Your study records live on your device. Your device's operating system may include app data in its normal backups to your personal iCloud (Apple) or Google Drive / Android backup account, so that you can restore your records if you set up a new device. This is a feature of Apple's and Google's operating systems, controlled entirely by you in your device settings and governed by Apple's and Google's privacy policies. We do not operate this backup, receive a copy of it, or have access to its contents.
09Data retention
On-device study data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app; because it never reaches our servers, there is no cloud copy for us to retain or delete. Analytics and crash data are retained for a limited period in accordance with Google Firebase's retention settings. Any backup of your study data held in your personal iCloud or Google Drive account is retained and removed according to Apple's or Google's policies and your device settings.
10Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit and the security infrastructure provided by Apple and Google. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11Children's privacy
PassStamp is intended for engineering professionals and students preparing for licensure exams, and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12Your choices and rights
- No account required. PassStamp has no logins, so there is no profile to manage.
- Your data stays local. Your study records live on your device and are not sent to us.
- Reset your data. You can clear your study data within the app or by uninstalling it.
- Access, correct, or delete. You may request a copy of, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold (for example, support correspondence or analytics data associated with your app instance).
- Manage backups. You control whether your device backs up app data to iCloud or Google Drive in your device settings.
- Limit analytics. Your device offers system-level controls (such as limiting ad tracking / resetting your advertising identifier) that reduce what analytics can collect.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights, such as the right to access, port, correct, or delete your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below; we will respond consistent with applicable law and may need to verify your identity.
13International users
PassStamp is operated from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you access the app from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
14Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice within the app or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of PassStamp after an update means you accept the revised policy.
